We receive many enquiries from people wanting to start in business asking about selling our products. We are delighted to work with new start up enterprises. I spent some time working with Business Link at their Enterprise Roadshow and had great fun chatting with people wanting to start their own business.
It has been highly rewarding watching some of our customers starting from virtually nothing and building some very successful enterprises.
If you are starting out, try to balance the product spread. Don’t buy too much of any one thing, but specialise in a range of products. Give your customers a choice, but don’t confuse them with too many options.
Try out our Starter Packs and Value Packs. These give you the option of a wide range of products without having to stock too many of them.
Don’t invest more than you can afford to loose!
Start small and get to know your market, watch other companies and see how you can be as good or better than them, be different and create your own identity. Get to know your competitors, but respect them. I am on very good terms with one of our biggest competitors, we chat regularly and help each other out. There is room for all of us.
Remember the most important rule of selling – the benefit. What does your product mean to the end user, how will it benefit them and make them feel better?
You will most likely reach the ‘Oh hell, what have I done?’ stage where nothing seems to go right. No matter how well you prepare for it, it happens! Keep going though, grit your teeth and find a way through it. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
